As
the new political administration in the capital beds in, the social
enterprise community are considering what the opportunities will be
for social enterprises who want to deliver public services.
The
Mayor has signed up to the Social Enterprise Charter, but the future
for our way of doing business is not clear. Will partnerships with the
private sector show the way? Does it matter if social enterprise is
bought by big business? Will rules concerning Community Interest Companies
need to change? Are social enterprise/private sector partnerships one
way or the only way for social enterprises to scale up and compete for
the larger public service contracts? How can we preserve the unique
contribution of smaller social enterprises working with communities
in the face of large public sector contracts?
The
new ‘right to bid' should open up opportunities for social enterprises
in London . In this exciting context Social Enterprise London, the capital's
support agency for social enterprise, presents Social Enterprise Futures.
This
conference sets out social enterprise's critical path to success in
a changing environment in the capital. Like last year's successful inaugural
event, the day provides a unique opportunity to discuss shifts in business
development, public service delivery and the opening up of new markets
with those leading the field. The event will bring together high-calibre
speakers, key politicians, policy-makers, journalists, private businesses
and social entrepreneurs to debate London 's role as a leader of social
enterprise.
